Why Foundations Of Health Science is perfect for someone wanting to pursue medicine

If you are a student at Middle Creek and are interested in a career in the medical field, you should definitely sign up for Foundations of Health Science taught by Dr. Williamson. This CTE class is a necessity for someone who may want to work in the medical field.

Dr. Williamson teaches Foundations of Health Science

You can take multiple classes related to the medical field at Middle Creek, the first one being Foundations of Health Science. This class will focus on basic medical information, such as vocab, careers, ethics, medical history, medical math, and other smaller stuff. This class is very hands-on, and the teacher does a good job of making the class interesting and fun. The number of fun mini-projects you do far outweigh the number of tests you take.

Every unit had at least one project that I enjoyed, such as the ethics unit where you do a mock court case. When I asked Jacob Wild, a student at Middle Creek who took the class, what he liked about it, he said, “The teacher was engaging and hands-on. For example, he wore a plague doctor outfit when learning about medical history.”

If you decide that you are interested in pursuing this class, there is a “path” you can follow afterwards: Health Science 1, Health Science 2, and Biomedical Technology. These classes can possibly help you earn internships and enroll in classes at Wake Tech.

In all, this class is perfect for someone who is interested in medicine or someone who is unsure if they want to pursue medicine. The teacher and the class assignments are also very interesting and fun to do. I highly recommend it!
