Many people dream of having a boatload of money sitting in their bank account just waiting to be spent. Many celebrities and athletes have lived that dream by making big purchases. The following are just a few first big purchases from some of the world’s biggest celebrities.
Shaq: Car for his family
Shaq’s first purchase using his first NBA paycheck was a $150,000 Mercedes Benz dedicated to his dad and a matching one for himself.
Lil Nas X: Burberry jacket
With the money he received from “Old Town Road,” the first thing Lil Nas X bought was a $2,000 Burberry jacket. Apparently he immediately regretted it because he only wanted to post it on Instagram.
Kanye West: 18th-century aquarium
With a price of $3.4 million, Kanye West bought an 18th-century aquarium with his first big paycheck in 2010. The aquarium included 30 koi fish and a gold fountain inside of it.
I asked several teachers and students what they would buy if they received a paycheck for $10 million. Their responses are below.
Teachers
Mr. Burrow: NFT (Non-fungible tokens)
Non-fungible tokens help you own unique items such as art, real estate, music, or videos. He wants one because it would be expensive and in the long run he would sell it for a higher value.
Ms. Hammrick: Plane tickets
Ms. Hammrick would buy plane tickets to Europe because she loves to travel and explore the world.
Ms. DaSilva: Real estate
Ms. DaSilva’s first purchase would be a house that would serve as her vacation home.
Students
Anthony Durrett: Stocks
Anthony would buy stocks “because if you do it right you will get way more bread.”
Ethan Jenkins: Stocks
According to Ethan, stocks “will provide a secure future for myself and my family.”
Anthony Stamm: Tesla X
Anthony says he needs a nice car whenever he is able to drive.
Savannah Hairr: A house
Savannah would buy “a big, modern, futuristic home because it would be nice to have the biggest house in the neighborhood.”
Personally, if I had $10 million, my first purchase would be to prepare for the zombie apocalypse: a bunker with food that could last over 30 years, lots of water, a crazy weaponry closet, solar energy panels, 24/7 surveillance cameras, self-detonating traps, and radios with a specific frequency to tell people where I'm located.
