The State Fair is Back!

Do you like playing fun games? Trying new foods? Or perhaps riding the most hectic rides you could ever imagine? Most North Carolinians love to attend the annual N.C. State Fair. The fair gives visitors the opportunity to try new foods, try new rides, and enjoy some great entertainment. For many, this is the best time of year, especially because the weather is perfect to attend this event.

This year, the N.C. State Fair will begin on October 14 and end on October 24. There will be many old and new things occurring this year at the State Fair. There will be over five different areas at the fair for rides. There will also be over six different gates that visitors can enter through to get into the fairground. Due to Covid-19, there are a few new protocols that need to be followed, a few more rides, a lot more food, and a lot of fun entertainment.

Although the State Fair can be a place of fun and excitement, some precautions must be taken seriously. Due to Covid-19, they are requiring visitors to wear masks except for when eating or drinking. They strongly urge visitors to social distance as much as possible while attending the fair. The State Fair protocols also say that it's not a requirement for entry to have proof of vaccination or recent negative Covid-19 test. However, the N.C. State Fair does encourage all visitors to get their vaccination to protect themselves and others from the virus.

The fair is well-known for its colorful and exciting rides, and this year visitors will be expecting two new rides. The Itsy Bitsy Spider Wheel, which is a Ferris wheel with many bright lights, will cost five tickets this year. The ride does not accept single riders, so you must go with a partner, a group of friends, or family. Another new ride is the Sky Hawk. This ride will also cost five tickets. The Sky Hawk takes riders high above the midway, spins the riders around and drops at random.

The N.C. State Fair is certainly one of the best places to get the most epic foods, from the turkey legs that are bigger than your face, to the delicious sweet corn and lemonade that sell out every 20 minutes. Even though those foods will certainly be at the fair this year, there are a few new foods that are going to be introduced to the fair for the very first time. Some of those include fresh creamy lemonade, CocoCrissi Tropical Icees, Esquites (which is essentially Mexican street corn), Oh My Churros, and lobster dogs.

Peyton Wisdom, a freshman at Middle Creek, claims that she is excited for this year's N.C. State Fair. Her favorite thing to do at the fair is to spend the afternoon riding the rides, especially with her family. Peyton also loves the sweet corn and the funnel cakes. She claims that the best time of day to attend the fair is during the afternoon and the night time. Although she doesn't go to the fair every year, she is so excited about this year’s thrilling event.

Colin Dooty, another freshman at Middle Creek, is also very excited for the annual state fair. He claims that he is most excited to “eat all the food and walk around.” He also claimed that the best way to attend the fair is during the afternoon with family. Colin loves the ski lift ride that takes you from one side of the fair to another. He has attended the fair almost every year, and he looks forward to riding some pretty hectic rides and eating some delicious deep-fried Oreos.

As you can see the annual N.C. State Fair is an exciting event that welcomes all to try new foods, play fun games, ride the most hectic rides, make memories, and so much more. It is truly an event you don't want to miss.
