Student Spotlight: Jacob Chancy

Jacob Chancy is a 17-year-old Middle Creek High School junior who was born in North Carolina on October 11th, 2004. His family consists of his mom, dad, and his older brother.

Jacob is a Middle Creek athlete who wants to pursue a career in automotive engineering at The University of North Carolina, Charlotte. His favorite sport is soccer, which he has been playing for a long time. He plays for Wake Futbol Club and Middle Creek’s own varsity soccer team, which made it to the third round of this year’s state playoffs.

Jacob says his favorite soccer player is Phil Coutinho because he learns from watching him. “Ever since I started playing center-mid a couple years ago, I would watch him play a lot.” Jacob remembers the soccer team’s trip to New Hanover fondly. “My favorite moment was when we went to New Hanover. This was the first time we were in a locker room before a game. It felt motivating to be in there with the team with how loud we were.”

In his free time Jacob likes to work on cars; go to car shows; play soccer; listen to his favorite artist, Polo G; watch his favorite movie, 6 Underground; and read The Making of a Navy Seal. He also works at Chick-fil-a.

When asked how he balances his busy schedule, he says, “It’s hard to balance work, school, and soccer. I have to figure out when I’m going to get all my school work done looking at my schedule, change my availability for work and might have to skip a day of soccer a week to be able to keep doing it all.”

This shows just how dedicated he is to his passions and future career.
