Student Spotlight: Bailey Watson

When you think about some of the most involved members of Middle Creek High School’s Class of 2022, Bailey Watson quickly comes to mind.

Bailey is a multi-sport athlete at Middle Creek

Bailey is a current senior at Middle Creek and is the definition of a student-athlete. Throughout her time at Middle Creek, she has been on the volleyball team, diving team, track team, soccer team, and club soccer team, accumulating numerous awards and recognitions. Some of these awards include winning first in diving her freshman and sophomore years, as well as an all-conference Honorable Mention junior year for soccer. She has also been captain of the JV volleyball team and captain of the soccer team.

According to Bailey, her favorite memory from school sports is, “Briley dancing in our hype circles before games or him slipping on a cone when demonstrating a drill.”

In school, Bailey has taken many rigorous classes but managed to stay on the all-A honor roll, which is not easy to do. Additionally, she completed the AP Capstone Program at Middle Creek, doing her AP Research project on The Prevalence of Aphantasia Among Personality Types.

This two-year program has an average of 60 juniors completing it per year. In your junior year of the program, AP Research is paired with AP Lang in an A/B day schedule, giving these teachers time to get to know the students better. Mr. Prelaske, the AP Research teacher, says, “When Virgil was addressing the Senate about the Etruscan threat, the Senate questioned Virgil and asked him why should Rome fear the Etruscans, and Virgil responded, ‘They are able because they believe themselves to be.’ Bailey Watson is capable because she believes herself capable to be, and I believe her to be as well.”

If you think Bailey's sports and academic schedules wouldn’t allow for her to do anything else, you are quite wrong. Bailey has been in 15 clubs throughout her time at Middle Creek and holds officer positions in 7 of them, with 4 of those being the president or captain. Some of these clubs include Mock Trial, Miracle League, Unified, and Lego Club.

Bailey says, “I thrive in a busy environment, but more importantly, I enjoy being involved.”

Bailey's plans after high school are to go to college and major in global health and go pre-med before working for Doctors Without Borders.

Good luck, Bailey, with your future plans, and congratulations on everything you have accomplished so far! Middle Creek knows you will do great things and make us proud!
