Staff Spotlight: Mr. Williams

Mr. Williams is an English teacher at Middle Creek High School, including all the Newspaper classes. Mr. Williams has the best and most unique background for a teacher at Middle Creek. This is because Mr. Williams was a part of the first class to ever graduate from Middle Creek in 2005, when he was a big part of the school culture. His dad helped create and was the first president for the Stampede Club, which helps raise and organize money for all athletics, and he played football for the school. He also took part in creating the club we all love today, the Creek Crazies. Since Mr. Williams and his peers of the 2005 class were the first class at Middle Creek High, they got to choose many things about our school. Most importantly, they all voted on us being called the Middle Creek Mustangs, which has obviously still stuck to this day and is a very well-known name around Wake County.

Mr. Williams played QB for MC from 2002-2004

But the craziest part about it all is that he teaches here today. His connection to Middle Creek goes deeper than just working here, as he says, “This is my home.” This brings a good connection between him and his students. This has led him to successfully take over the Newspaper class. He has goals of “turning lesser-known stories into common knowledge,” along with wanting to “get more students to read the newspaper.”This has so far been a successful movement, getting hundreds of views on articles the students create with the website he created for The Creek Flow. Many teachers and students enjoy these articles all around school and have even parents and friends outside of school.

With Mr. Williams' history at Middle Creek, he very much enjoys “being able to add to the school culture.” Having a teacher care about not only the students but also about the school culture is a great thing to have on campus. When it comes to his students he wants to “ help students become better writers and embrace everyone's unique voice,” which is the perfect answer for someone looking to become a part of Mr. Williams’ Newspaper classes.

Now Mr. Williams teaches English & Newspaper at MC

Overall, as a teacher at Middle Creek, Mr. Williams cares about what he is teaching, the students he teaches, and the school where he has spent many years of his life. Luckily for all the students at Middle Creek High School, Mr Williams seems to be at his final destination and will continue to teach his Newspaper classes and hopefully achieve his goals for this class by continuing the Newspaper movement.
