Remembering Betty White: America's grandmother

Betty White is one of America’s most iconic actresses to ever grace our TV screens. She has been in the entertainment industry for a span of over seven decades, and she was one of the first women to ever work in front and behind the camera. White was mostly known for her roles as:

  • Rose Nylund - The Golden Girls (1985 - 1992)

  • Ann Douglas - The Bold and the Beautiful (2006 - 2009)

  • Sue Ann Nivens - The Mary Tyler Moore Show (1970 - 1977)

She was obviously in various more shows and had many featured roles in more movies and shows, but those were her most iconic roles played on television.

White not only played a huge role in the entertainment industry, but she was also a big advocate for helping animals. In 2011, White published her book, Betty and Friends, in which she wrote about how her mother and father were big animal lovers and passed that passion to her. Ever since then, White has been able to help millions of animals in her life.

Towards the end of last year, White released on her Instagram account that she was celebrating her 100th birthday (January 17th) with People magazine. Tragically, in the early morning of December 31, 2021, at about 9:30 am, White died in her sleep from a stroke. She was then cremated and given to Glenn Kaplan, who was her advanced health care directive. It wasn’t a great way to begin the new year, as White’s death was a devastating turn of events and definitely took the world by surprise. She will be missed by so many people and mostly by our TV screens.
