Nowadays everyone is constantly listening to music. It has become a really big part of our lives. A lot of people listen to music on streaming services or apps like Apple Music and others.
I wanted to see what apps had the most listeners, so I went around the school during lunch and asked 50 freshmen and sophomores what streaming service or app they use.
Around 80% of people said they listened to Spotify. 60% of those 80% listen to the free version of Spotify, while the other 40% listen to premium Spotify, which means no ads and unlimited skips. The other 20% of people were split pretty evenly, with 10% listening to Apple Music and 10% listening to other apps.
I also interviewed 50 juniors and seniors. The percentage of Spotify listeners stayed the same at 80%. However, 60% subscribed to Spotify premium. 20% of others were split between Apple Music and other platforms.
Some of the most popular artists among students I surveyed were Olivia Rodrigo, Drake, and Kanye West.
Personally, I really like to use Spotify. I like the layout the most. I do pay for premium and I think it's 100% worth it, but even non-premium works. So if you're thinking of changing streaming platforms or thinking of upgrading, I would recommend Spotify premium.
