With such a wide variety of foods and different cultures, the options for food are almost endless. Three students at Middle Creek High School were interviewed about their favorite food to get a better idea of what teens are eating these days. So let’s see what foods high schoolers enjoy.
One student, Hadley Donnell, says that her favorite food is “Spaghetti and meatballs.” She must really like that meal because she said if she had to live without spaghetti and meatballs she would “#cry.” Donnell states that she first had spaghetti when her mother made it for her. She also says, “She has never made it from scratch,” but her favorite place to buy spaghetti and meatballs is Olive Garden. This has been her favorite food for about two years. Donnell mentions that her least favorite food is green beans. Although Donnell does not consider herself a picky eater, she likes her food to appeal to her eyes because if something looks bad she will not be eating it.
Another student, Hawke Shoenfeld, says his favorite food is “Peanut butter and jelly.” Shoenfeld states, “The first time I tried it was when I was at my grandma’s house and she made one for me.” Shoenfeld also mentions that when he has peanut butter and jelly sandwiches it reminds him of his grandma. When his grandma can’t make him a peanut butter and jelly sandwich he likes to buy them from Food Lion. This has been Shoenfeld's favorite food for “too long to remember.” Shoenfeld also enjoys savory foods but mentions that he “hates beans with a burning passion.” Shoenfeld says he would consider himself a picky eater because he “usually doesn’t eat much other than what he likes.”
Szaffi Hock De Leon, a freshman at Middle Creek, says her favorite food is “french fries.” Hock De Leon says that she had french fries for the first time because she liked how they looked. Since then Hock De Leon has started making french fries from scratch. “My dad and I would cook them together and my brother and I would make them together when we were younger.” Hock De Leon is open to trying new foods because “you can say that you’ve tried something.” Her favorite place to buy french fries is Cook-out or Chick Fil A, which are two very popular restaurants among students.
As you can see it seems like our students here at Middle Creek like their carbs!
I really liked the variety of students used in this article that all had different taste. Not only that but descriptions of where you can find them and the origin of why they enjoyed them. It has great detail and made me want to try these foods myself! -Isabelle N
