Middle Creek Athletes Pick Their Favorite Pregame Music

Music is great to put you in a certain mood. According to Global Sport Matters, listening to music before a sports game has been proven to improve performance. With that in mind, I asked some Middle Creek athletes on different teams what their favorite songs to listen to are before they play a game. Here are the responses:

Sarah Leach, a cheerleader and junior at Middle Creek, says she likes to listen to “We Ready” by Archie Eversole before games because “it’s the song that’s played as the football players enter and it gets everyone hyped.”

Collin Patrick, a junior on Middle Creek’s lacrosse team, says he and the team listen to “In the Name of Love” by Martin Garrix and Bebe Rexha before a game. Patrick says it “gets everyone rowdy” for the game.

Junior member of the women’s Middle Creek lacrosse team Gracyn Meares says, “I love Doja Cat. Any song of hers gets me hype.” Her favorite to listen to before games is “Tia Tamera.”

“Woah” by Lil Baby is Middle Creek men’s basketball player Maxx Cohen’s favorite song to listen to before a game. “I listened to it last year before my games with my brothers and friends. It brings good vibes and puts me in a good mood going into the game,” he says.

Women’s basketball player Maya Robinson says “POCKET ROCKET” by Cochise is her favorite to listen to before taking on the court. Robinson says she enjoys listening to rap music before games since it’s upbeat and fast.

Sophomore volleyball player Micaela Curry likes listening to “...Ready For It?” by Taylor Swift and “Lot of Me” by Lil Tecca before playing. Curry says the songs on Taylor Swift’s reputation album help get her hyped right before games since they’re really upbeat.

Freshman Paige Herschman of the Middle Creek cross country team says, “Cold Cold Man” by Saint Motel is her favorite pre-game song. She explains, “This song reminds me of summer, which gets me ready to run.”

All of these athletes listen to pregame music for a boost in performance and to prepare themselves mentally for competition. If you’d like to use the same songs for your pregame routine, check out this Spotify playlist:
