For many seniors graduating this year and other Middle Creek students looking toward the future, it is important to learn about how Middle Creek helps prepare you for college. My sister, Emily Gorham, graduated from Middle Creek in 2018. She spent her freshman year at UNC Chapel Hill and then transferred to NC State for her last two years. Emily graduated from college in three years.
When asked how Middle Creek prepared her for college, she replied, “Middle Creek helped me a lot because it had a lot of different classes that simulate what it’s like being in a college course. Middle Creek challenged me which I really enjoyed.” As a student at Middle Creek I can honestly agree: Middle Creek is not easy. It will challenge you and prepare you for college.
Emily said Mrs. Taylor was a teacher who particularly helped her. “Her class really showed what a college class was going to be like and I believe that she got me into the study habits that I needed to have.” Calculus is not an easy class at Middle Creek. I have personally not taken Calculus myself, but I believe that AP Human Geography and AP Psychology have helped prepare me in similar ways.
For those of you who aren’t yet sure what you want to study in college, Emily was in the same situation. “I really didn’t know what I wanted to do until I got to college. I just always knew that I liked biology a lot.” Emily ended up studying biology and human genetics.
Emily says that she misses Middle Creek a lot. “I had a great time at Middle Creek and had a lot of great memories.” That is one thing that me and Emily have in very common: we will both miss Middle Creek a lot, and I can surely say that I have cherished every moment here.
