Grayson Nye swims his way into Middle Creek history

Grayson Nye is a sophomore at Middle Creek High School. He has been swimming for 11 years. He swims competitively for the TAC Titans, his summer league team The Dutchman Downs Dolphins, and the Middle Creek High School swim team.

Grayson’s favorite stroke is breaststroke, and his favorite, as well as best event, is the 200 breaststroke. In the 200 breaststroke, Grayson’s best time is two seconds away from an olympic trial cut. Another one of his recent achievements happened during the high school state championship meet. He placed first in the 100 breast, making him the North Carolina state champion in that event.

Grayson states that his favorite parts about swimming are “the people and the community.” His favorite memory from swimming is getting his first futures cut in the 200 breast. Though Grayson dedicates most of his time to this sport, he also enjoys hanging out with his friends and listening to music.

Cooper Slough, one of Grayson’s former coaches, states that, “He honestly makes coaching easy. He’s somebody I don’t have to worry about how well he’ll swim or how prepared he’ll be. You want a competitive relay, you put Grayson on it…simple as that. He also brings crazy energy and never fails to make me laugh when I’m stressed in close meets. He is one of the most talented and fun people I’ve coached.”

In the future, Grayson plans to swim in college in Florida. Overall, Grayson has a great future ahead of him in swimming, and we can’t wait to see where it takes him!
