Fall, my personal favorite season. The cool weather, football games, pumpkin carving, halloween, pumpkin treats and so much more. It is all just right around the corner!
If you are as crazy for all things pumpkin as I am, then I am sure you were just as excited to see that Starbucks has released all of their well-known pumpkin coffees and pumpkin pastries, along with some new fall flavors like apple crisp and apple macchiatos. Pumpkin-flavored and -themed things are beginning to fill the stores yet again: pumpkin breads, cookies, sauces, cereal, and pumpkin pies (my favorite)! Pretty much anything and everything you could possibly think of, stores are starting to have in the form of pumpkin.
As for all of the fun events and activities that are coming, they are endless! As you all know there was no traditional State Fair last year, but this year the State Fair will be reopening on Thursday, October 14th! Make sure you get your tickets and go get all the good food that we wait for all year long and ride all the rides because they will be closing Sunday, October 24th.
Of course the fair as well will have all the traditional fair favorite foods like fried oreos, funnel cakes, french fries, and cotton candy, among other things. you could think of, they more than likely have it fried!
The haunted houses we all love will soon be making their appearance in early October. The most popular one that people talk about is Fear Farm, one of my favorites. With 7 different unbelievably scary attractions, their opening night will be 7pm on October 1st, and their final night will be October 31st. They are only open for a short period of time each week, Thursdays to Saturdays, so go get your tickets soon as they do plan to sell out fast!
We can’t forget about the classic pumpkin carving and pumpkin patches! The pumpkins at the North Carolina Farmers Market are making their way into stalls and booths and will soon be ready for you to go pick your favorite to take home. Ragan & Holly’s pumpkin patch, located at 38 Lewter Shop Road in Apex, will be open everyday from 10am-6pm. They are open now and ready for business, so go get some pumpkins!
There are countless other traditions this time of year. Madelyn Cook, a senior, said one of her favorite traditions is to “have bonfires and bake lots of pies.” Middle Creek High School graduate Lauren Hughes said her tradition was “to go with her family and pick pumpkins together even if we don’t carve them.” She also added that this year she is very much looking forward to “the leaves changing colors.” Seth Alford and Avery Spencer, both seniors here at Middle Creek, also said their favorite fall tradition was pumpkin carving.
Clearly there are so many amazing things to look forward to as fall begins officially on September 22nd. Enjoy the last couple weeks of summer and get ready for fall!
