In the 2003 NBA draft, the first overall pick was LeBron James, who got drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers. He played for the Cavs for seven seasons before playing four seasons in Miami. He then went back to the Cavs for four more seasons before moving on to play for the Lakers.
When James played for the Cavs in his first seven seasons he didn’t win a ring, but when he went to the Heat he won two in 2012 and 2013. He then went back to the Cavs to beat the Golden State Warriors in an insane comeback, winning three straight to get his third ring in 2016. He won his fourth ring with the Lakers in 2020 by beating the Miami Heat.
James has 35,445 total career points. He also has 9,712 career assists and 9,770 career rebounds. James is in the top-four in league history with 99 triple-doubles and 507 double-doubles. Right now James is ranked 103rd in blocks with 985. He is the only player in NBA history with 35,000 points, 9,000 assists, and 9,000 rebounds according to ClutchPoints.
What makes James the greatest of all time, and better than Michael Jordan, is he is more of a team player than Jordan because Lebron is an all-around player and Jordan was just a two-way player. Jordan averaged 2.1 fewer assists than James and also 1.2 fewer rebounds. James also has more career points, rebounds, and assists than Jordan. James also has a better career field goal percentage.
In addition, when James won the finals in Cleveland, he was first in points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks, something that Jordan never did in his six finals.
Some people think Jordan is the GOAT because he is 6-0 in the finals, but he’s also only made 6 finals out of 13 and lost in the first round 3 times. James is 4-6 in finals and missed the finals only 5 times out of the 15 playoffs he went to. He also has the most playoff wins in NBA history with 174 wins and has only lost in the first round 1 time.
