Video Game Review: NBA 2K22

NBA 2K22 was released on September 10th on various platforms. Luka Dončić, star for the Mavericks, is the standard cover of the game. Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant, Mavericks great and future Hall-of-Famer Dirk Nowitzki, and all-time Los Angeles Lakers great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar are on the cover for the NBA 75th Anniversary Edition. Candace Parker of the Chicago Sky is the first woman featured on the cover of an NBA 2K game.

NBA 2K22 features an entirely different type of playing style than in other years. With the use of stamina in the game, it makes the game feel more realistic. It makes it harder to dribble and then get past the defender as the stamina will run low.

For the offensive side of the gameplay adjustments, breaking down defenders off the dribble with signature moves and combos, precision jump shots, and dunking in traffic have all become more skill-based. This means you have to know what you are doing to actually be able to do certain moves and shots. Shot contesting and blocking have been revamped for the defensive side, allowing the defenders to have a greater impact on the game.

NBA 2K22 has a current gen and a next gen in the game, which is the same as last year's game. This is where you can make your own player and level them up. However, in this year's game they have two different park layouts. Current gen is a cruise ship and the next gen is a city. I believe the current gen is better than the next gen because everything feels smoother.

People should consider buying NBA 2K22 since it's a very enjoyable game to play alone or with friends to compete against other players. It consists of tons of different game modes that are all fun especially if you like the sport of basketball.
